Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) has several contraindications, including: 

Absolute Contraindications:

Untreated pneumothorax (collapsed lung), Intraocular gas bubbles, Active seizures, Brain tumor, Claustrophobia, Cerebral palsy, Recent stroke, Certain lung conditions (e.g., asthma, COPD), Oxygen toxicity (previous exposure to high oxygen levels), Pregnancy (unless approved by a healthcare professional), History of seizures, Certain types of ear infections, Acute osteomyelitis (bone infection)

Other Considerations: 

  • Age: HBOT is generally not recommended for children under 6 months of age. 

  • Certain medications: Some medications may interact with HBOT, so it's important to inform your healthcare provider about all medications you're taking. 

  • Underlying medical conditions: Certain medical conditions, such as multiple sclerosis or decompression sickness, may require special considerations before undergoing HBOT.
